Add audio tracks to a video

This guide will demonstrate how to upload alternate audio tracks for on-demand HeapStream videos.

Overview

The multi-track audio feature enables the addition of alternative audio tracks to your video content.

This feature is particularly useful for enhancing accessibility, supporting multiple languages, or offering viewers a choice in their audio experience, such as including a director's commentary.

This guide will demonstrate how to upload additional audio tracks for on-demand HeapStream videos.

Uploading alternate audio tracks

Adding alternate audio tracks is not yet possible through the GUI.

Use the "Upload audio track" ⧉ API endpoint.

Keep in mind when uploading alternate audio tracks

  • To upload additional audio tracks, it's essential to first upload the video.
  • It's advisable to upload audio files that match the video's duration. If the audio file is longer, it will be cut to fit the video's length.
  • Once the audio track is successfully uploaded and encoded, the status field will update to ready. If an error occurs during this process, the status will reflect error.
  • Each audio track requires a unique label to distinguish it from other tracks associated with the video.
